Michael Mugo

As a Director in CIC Microinsurance, Michael Mugo has over 27 years of insurance industry experience, with a versatile leadership background covering sales, marketing, strategy, and corporate affairs at CIC Group. Notably, Michael spearheaded the launch of the CIC Africa Insurance in South Sudan, as the founding Managing Director, establishing the regional operation from the ground up.

He now drives the CIC group microinsurance division, driving product innovation to enhance MSMEs access to capital through de-risking mechanisms. A participant in the 2025 Microinsurancemaster accelerator program, he is also a graduate of the Advanced Management Program (AMP) from Strathmore Business School, Lagos Business School, and IESE, Barcelona. He further holds an MBA (Strategy & Marketing) from JKUAT and is a Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI). Michael is also a Certified Trainer with the Centre for Corporate Governance – Kenya, passionately advocating for best practices in institutional governance. He is an active member of the Institute of Directors of Kenya (IOD), Insurance Institute of Kenya (IIK), Marketing Society of Kenya (MSK), and LOMA(USA). He also sits in the International Co-operative Alliance (ICA)Think Tank (ICETT) team.
