Jim Morrell (ICUDE)

Jim Morrell has devoted over 30 years to advancing financial inclusion, transforming Peninsula Credit Union into a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) during his 13-year tenure as President and CEO to better serve economically distressed communities. A globally recognized leader, he holds CUDE, ADE, and I-CUDE designations, reflecting his impact on credit unions and SACCOS across Africa and the United States. His governance roles include Treasurer on America’s Credit Unions Board, Board Member for the World Council of Credit Unions, and past leadership on key industry committees and associations. Honored with awards such as the 2025 Maurice R. Smith DEI Leadership Award and the 2021 Credit Union Advocate of the Year, Jim is a passionate advocate for financial cooperatives and a dedicated volunteer supporting causes from Seattle Children’s Hospital to Don Bosco Special School in Kenya. He holds an MBA/MPA from Willamette University and a BA in Economics from Pacific Lutheran University.
